The first thing that is recognizable in my photo is the angle/viewpoint. I lowered myself and had the camera on the deck, but I angled my camera in a way that could capture the rest of the scenery. I also incorporated the rule of thirds as the deck being one third of the photo, the rocks and ocean as another third, and the sky and trees the last third. The crevasses on the deck start off wider and decreases as the line goes to the rocks. The the attention is around that bend of trees leading throughout photo. There is contrast between the trees and the sky with the trees having a more darker tone and the sky with a lighter tone and the deck is the mid tone so it all balanced. The deck also has a rough texture. The white balance was set to cloudy, their is contrast between the trees and sky, and it was a shallow depth of field. This photo was taken at and old beach in Plymouth. The black and white appearance gives the photo a rustic view of how old the beach is. The marks on the deck also show that this land is older. |

This photo was taken outside the school near the track. The water on the ground reflected the gate that was right above it. There is this repetition of the gates bars into the ground and it continues all the way down the gates end. As the gate becomes smaller, there is a person at the end that leads the viewer to the person. Black and white gave this photo justice because if the photo were in color, the reflection of the gates bars wouldn't be as strong as the black and white version. The white balance was set to cloudy, the ISO to 200 and was in black and white. It was a rainy day when this photo was taken and creates a mellow mood. |

For the jax, I chose to shoot the photo from a low viewpoint and placed them in a curving line. The depth of field is shallow because I made the foreground jax focused and the background unfocused. The ISO was 400, it was a shallow depth of field, and the white balance was fluorescent. I thought that the composition was different than most because of the way the jax curved and the point of view of the camera. The most focused jax, there is a different design on it. They also cast a faint shadow. |

The flower petals have a striking color. In the middle of the flower it's this darker shade of pink, but the rest of the flower it's a light pink. I wanted to have the photo remain in color because of the flowers striking color. I was up close against the flower and took a photo where the flowers takes most of the image because I wanted to capture all its little details. In this environment, I chose the white balance to be cloudy and the depth of field as shallow. On my camera phone I tapped on the flower that was in the foreground and it went into focus while the background with the leaves and other flower became unfocused. I admired this point of view because of the little raindrops that are on the the flower. They were perfectly on top of the flower because it had just rain and I thought that it was the perfect time to take a photo of what a raindrop looks like up close. Composition: shape, texture, distance/point of view Technical aspects: shallow depth of field, ISO 100, white balance sunny |

The cellos are stacked up against each other and creates rhythm in the photo. I changed color into black and white because the cello was invented century's ago and I thought the black and white gave it an old look and feel to it. This photo is like a reminder of the old style of music. Guitars, pianos, and drums for pop and rock music seem to be the most popular nowadays, but the cello was more for the classics. Composition: Repetition, rhythm Technical aspects: Black and white, white balance flourescent |

The photo of the reflected gate was combined with one of my self portraits. Again, their is this repetition of the gates bars in the background and the reflection on the water. The gate photo stayed in black and white while the photo of myself was in color. One of my favorite things to do is look out the window and watch the rain fall. In this photo it looks like I'm doing exactly that. The gates is in black and white because some people may watch the rain and think of it as a gloomy day, but I enjoy the rain that's why I'm in color. Composition: Repetition, Black and white vs color, lines Technical aspects: ISO 100, white balance cloudy |
