Term 1
Frisbee
In Gym class, we started the unit of Frisbee. In Frisbee our instructors taught us how to throw the Frisbee different ways other than the normal flick of the wrist. Also in the class we also learned that you cannot walk at all and you must catch the Frisbee and immediately throw it without walking. We started off by getting into groups and and just easily throwing the Frisbee back and forth. Once we were all set from practice, we had Frisbee games. To score a point you must be at the end line.
Term 2
Yoga
The next unit we did in Gym class was yoga. Yoga was easily taught by one of the instructors. In the yoga sessions we learned different poses such as up dog, down dog, and reverse warrior. The poses we did were very relaxing in a way and so was the music being played in the background. Yoga is one of the many stress relievers and we were taught to relax and let go any stress in your life.
Downward Dog
Downward dog is a relaxing stretch that can be both fun and challenging. While still relaxing those muscles, you still feel that nice stretch that can make a world of a difference if you're soar. It definitely requires muscles and it just a relaxing stretch. Like a dog, you spread your arms out straight in front you and bring your head to your knees bringing yourself up to the air while still stretching.
Term 3
Volleyball-passing
In Gym class, we started the unit of volleyball. The first class of volleyball we learned basic beginner volleyball skills. Passing was the first thing we practiced in the volleyball unit. To be able to pass the volleyball to the setter, the player must bend their knees to get low enough to bump up the volleyball. The player then must stretch their arms out, cup their hands and get ready to bump the ball. The player must have a straight platform in order to bump the ball on the inside of your arm. Face the direction you want the volleyball to go to (the setter) and bump it high enough so that the setter can make a good set for you or another player to hit.
Volleyball-serving
Going back to the unit of volleyball another thing we have learned over the past week was serving. Serving can be very difficult. The player must develop momentum when serving and must concentrate. The player has to hold the ball out with the not strongest arm and must gain their momentum by taking a few steps before throwing the volleyball into to the air in front of you. Once the player takes a 2-3 steps, whatever is comfortable, the player has to throw the ball 2-3 feet in the air, bring back your strong arm and hit the ball. When hitting the ball it is essential for you to have a strong, stiff, and powerful hand so that you hit the ball even harder and will make it tougher for your opponents to bump the ball up.
Term 4
Lawn Games~Cornhole
Cornhole is a game of skill and how good you are as a thrower. It's you and a partner against another two people. Each person tosses for bags and if it lands on the board it's one point and if it lands in the hole, then it's three points. It's 2 points if the bag is half in the hole. If one red bag and blue bag are on the board and they cost one point then they cancel out. Although, let's say two blue bags are on the board and one red bags is on their too, one blue bag would cancel out and one red bag would cancel out leaving the blue team with the point.
Ladder Golf
Ladder golf was surprisingly fun and challenging. The key to this game is toss the golf balls on a rope to the ladder all the way at the bottom. The ladder at the bottom is 3 points and it goes down a point as you go up the ladder. I learned that if you toss the rope directly in front of the bottom ladder on the ground it will bounce and hook onto the 3 point ladder. It was a lot of fun to play.
